At Beyond the Wonderland, this valley has a special significance: Nawaz, our co-founder, hails from Shimshal, while Sheru and his wife Sultana still live in the village. Through them, our travelers experience the valley from within, connected directly with locals who have lived there for generations.

A Unique Valley: Isolation and Grandeur

Nestled at over 3,100 meters above sea level in the Hunza region, Shimshal was long inaccessible except on foot until 2003. Even today, the winding road along the Shimshal River offers one of the most spectacular drives in Pakistan.

This remote access has preserved the valley: Wakhi traditions, local craftsmanship, pastoral culture, and legendary hospitality remain intact.
